| Resumen: Numerosos estudios señalan que, en caso de hospitalización neonatal, ofrecer un apoyo adecuado e invitar a las madres a participar activamente en el cuidado de sus recién nacidos tiene un impacto positivo en el bebé y es un factor protector para la salud mental materna. Los estudios centrados en el padre, en momentos y circunstancias semejantes, son escasos. El objetivo de este estudio es comparar la percepción paterna y materna de apoyo y posibilidad de participar activamente en el cuidado del recién nacido durante el periodo de hospitalización neonatal. Treinta y cuatro padres y 37 madres de recién nacidos hospitalizados al nacer respondieron on-line un cuestionario sobre percepción de apoyo y participación en el cuidado de sus bebés, 15 días después del alta médica. Se encontró que no hay diferencias significativas entre las necesidades percibidas por padres y madres en las Unidades de neonatología. Los padres señalan que reciben menos apoyo, que les cuesta más expresar emociones, que la hospitalización tiene un impacto sobre la relación de pareja y se muestran preocupados por las responsabilidades a las que deben hacer frente. Los resultados ponen en evidencia la necesidad de incluir estrategias que favorezcan la participación paterna en las unidades neonatales./ Numerous studies indicate that, in the event of neonatal hospitalization, offering adequate support and inviting mothers to actively participate in the care of their newborns has a positive impact on the baby and is a protective factor for maternal mental health. Studies focused on the father, in similar times and circumstances, are scarce. The objective of this study is to compare the paternal and maternal perception of support and the possibility of actively participating in the care of the newborn during the period of neonatal hospitalization. Thirty-four fathers and 37 mothers of newborns hospitalized at birth answered an online questionnaire on perception of support and participation in the care of their babies, 15 days after discharge. It was found that there are no significant differences between the needs perceived by fathers and mothers in the Neonatal Units. Parents indicate that they receive less support, that it is more difficult for them to express emotions, that hospitalization has an impact on their relationship and they are concerned about the responsibilities they must face. The results highlight the need to include strategies that favor paternal participation in neonatal units. | |
