| Resumen:El propósito de este estudio fue examinar la efectividad de la intervención Fundamentos de Crianza para fortalecer las prácticas
de crianzas y reducir el nivel de riesgo del maltrato de menores. Además, pretendía examinar factores sociodemográficos y
contextuales que se relacionan con el riesgo al maltrato y negligencia luego de la intervención (T2). Realizamos análisis
secundario de datos con una muestra 198 participantes (54% Hispanos) que finalizaron el programa de intervención
Fundamentos de Crianzadurante el año 2015-2016. Los resultados de análisis de varianzas de medidas repetidas muestran que
el programa logró un incremento en las estrategias de crianza positivas entre los participantes de todos los grupos y tuvo un
efecto favorable en la reducción del riesgo al maltrato, en particular en la falta de Empatía sobre las Necesidades del Niño y el
Uso de Castigo Físico. En su mayoría, los patrones de cambio fueron significativamente diferentes por grupo de edad. Resultados
del análisis de regresión sugieren que la etnicidad, el desempleo y el estatus marital se relacionan con el riesgo al maltrato luego
de la intervención. Este estudio provee evidencia sobre la efectividad de Fundamentos de Crianzapara el desarrollo de prácticas
de crianza positivas y la reducción del riesgo al maltrato en padres de niños de diversos grupos de edad y de diferentes grupos
étnicos. Además, pone de manifiesto factores individuales y contextuales relevantes que se asocian al riesgo al maltrato que
resultan cruciales para eldiseño e implementación de intervenciones de crianza en la comunidad.
/ The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the Parenting Fundamentals to strengthen parenting practices and reduce the level of risk of child maltreatment. In addition, it aimed to examine socio-demographic and contextual factors that are related to the risk of abuse and neglect after a parenting intervention (T2). We conducted secondary data analysis with a sample of 198 participants (54% Hispanics) who completed the Parenting Fundamentals intervention program during 2015- 2016. The results repeated measureof analysis of variances show that the program achieved an increase in positive parenting strategies among participants from all groups and had a favorable effects in reducing the risk of abuse, in particular the Lack of Empathic Awareness of Children’s Needs and the Use of Corporal Punishment. For the most part, the patterns of change were significantly different by age group. Results of the regression analysis show that ethnicity, unemployment, and marital status are related to the risk ofabuse after the parenting intervention. This study provides evidence on the effectiveness of Parenting Fundamentals to develop positive parenting practices among participants and to reduce the risk of child maltreatment in parents of children from different age and ethnic groups. In addition, it highlights some individual and contextual factors that are associated with the risk of maltreatment that are crucial for the design and implementation of parenting interventions in the community. |
