Resumen:We examined the association between a history of childhoodabuse and caesarean section in the population-based NorwegianMother and Child Cohort Study (MoBa). Our sample consisted of26 923 primiparous women with singleton pregnancies at term.Of all women, 18.8% (5060) had experienced any childhoodabuse, 14.3% (3856) reported emotional abuse, 5.2% (1413)reported physical abuse and 6.4% (1730) reported sexual abuse. The proportion of caesarean sections before labour was notaffected by any childhood abuse. Any childhood abuse wasassociated with a slightly increased risk of caesarean sectionsduring labour (adjusted odds ratio 1.16; 95% CI 1.03–1.30).
