Resumen:Este trabajo pretende exponer las diferencias y similitudes que se producen alrededor de la lactancia materna examinando los aspectos más controvertidos históricamente. Se trata de comprender la forma en que la fisiología materna y la construcción social de la lactancia dan lugar a una retroalimentación entre ambas. El análisis se enfoca, principalmente, sobre las distintas prácticas en el inicio del amantamiento tras el parto, la duración de la lactancia, las creencias y supersticiones sobre la misma, la lactancia por otra mujer y la lactancia artificial teniendo en cuenta la perspectiva del contexto sociohistórico, cultural y situacional en la que fueron realizadas.

In this article we highlight differences and similarities that occur around breastfeeding,
examining the most controversial aspects along history. We try to understand in which way
the maternal physiology and the social construction of breastfeeding give rise to a constant
feedback between both processes. The analysis focuses mainly on the different practices
at the beginning of the breastfeeding after the birth, duration of breastfeeding, beliefs and
superstitions about it, allomaternal nursing and the artificial feeding, considerating the
perspective of the sociohistorical, cultural and situational context where they were performed. |
