| Resumen:La psicooncología es una disciplina relativamente nueva que surge como respuesta a los diferentes retos psicosociales que plantea la atención al enfermo oncológico: la problemática emocional, manejo del dolor, adherencia al tratamiento oncológico y cuidados paliativos, entre otros. Ofrecer una atención integral al niño con cáncer, por un equipo interdisciplinario, plantea un nuevo horizonte; ya que son pocos los hospitales que cuentan con el personal entrenado para esta labor, debemos fortalecer programas de formación académica que permitan cubrir las necesidades reales. Es importante considerar como especialista en psicooncología pediátrica, y adquirir el conocimiento básico de oncología pediátrica, complicaciones producidas por los tratamientos oncológicos, las perspectivas teóricas de las estrategias de afrontamiento, neuropsicología, la crisis familiar y el proceso de adaptación de los hermanos, el duelo que produce la pérdida de la salud y, en ocasiones, de la vida; conocer el manejo del duelo como parte de los cuidados paliativos. Al trabajar como apoyo del oncólogo, se deben conocer cada una de las condiciones y etapas de los padecimientos para disminuir la ansiedad del niño y de los padres, ante la noticia del diagnóstico; favorecer la adherencia al tratamiento con intervención psicológica que ofrezca mayor efectividad, preparando al niño y a la familia para la cirugía radical o, bien, para un trasplante de médula ósea, como resultado del manejo interdisciplinario tendrá dos opciones: vigilancia que reintegra a casa y a su ambiente, o enfrentar una condición de fase terminal y la muerte. // Psychooncology is a new discipline appear in response to the psychosocial disorders, is necessary to the control of the cancer patient and his family, focuses in the initial reaction to cancer diagnosis, the emotional problems, pain management, adjustment to the oncology treatment, and the palliative care. Effective communication is increasingly recognized as a core clinical skill. However, there is evidence that health professionals still lack basic communication skill. The integral care to the child with cancer for an interdisciplinary health professional is a new system, in Mexico few hospitals have a staff of professionals specializes; we have need skills, ability of communication, about of pediatrics oncology toxicity effects of treatment, of chemotherapy, radiotherapy to late and sharp. When a child is hospitalized, he presents a psychological disorder that not should ignore. When is communicate the diagnosis is broken the style and dynamic of life previous, coping whit the death (true or symbolic) change the familiar relationship, the friends and activity social (school and work), provoke the loss of control, increment the anxiety/depression, aggressive behavior, confusion and uncertainty. As consequence have a behavior, intolerant, angry, aggressive, increase of maternal dependence, fantasy, depression adjustment disorders to the loss of health: life style, brothers, friends, and courage to live. The treatment to the interdisciplinary team has two options; one is the opportunity of return to house with a long-term survivors or coping with terminal condition and death. |
